Ginetta reveals 'undiluted' G60 coupe

British bespoke sports and racing car maker Ginetta has revealed its new G60 sports car. It may look a little like a Lotus, but it has a 231kW, 3.7-litre V6 borrowed from the latest Ford Mustang, driving through a limited-slip differential, a carbon-fibre body and LED headlights.

What it doesn't have is power steering, ABS or traction control; that not only gives the driver what Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson calls “an undiluted driving experience”, it also helps keep the G60's kerb weight down to only 1100kg, so it can hit 100km/h from a standing start in less than four seconds and keep going to 265km/h flat out.

Early in 2010 Ginetta, which has been building hand-made racing and sports cars since 1958, bought out rival boutique car company Farbio, founded by racer Chris march in 2005, mainly to get hold of its carbon-fibre component factory, and the G60 is essentially a revised, somewhat better finished Farbio GTS.

Only 50 G60's will be made; pricing starts at £68 000 (R850 000) ex factory.
