Daniele Bandiera, 47, has joined the Piaggio-Aprilia Group as chief executive officer of Moto Guzzi, where his brief is to lead the company recovery and confirm the turnaround targets for Moto Guzzi set by the Piaggio Group.

Bandiera, an engineer, began his career in the Finmeccanica Group and went on to hold increasingly senior posts in Alfa Romeo and subsequently in the Fiat Group, where he was responsible for the construction and start-up of the Melfi factory and was later appointed Fiat Auto worldwide production manager.

In 2002, he was appointed president of Alfa Romeo, where he was responsible for the launch of the Alfa GT and the Crosswagon Q4, and co-ordinated the development of the Alfa Romeo Brera and the "159" family.

Piaggio sees Moto Guzzi as its key to the American market so we can expect to see more cruisers from the Mandello del Lario factory with sports bike such as the MGS-01 taking a lower priority.
