Closest look yet at VW’s new premium fastback

Volkswagen has released two teaser pictures of its Arteon premium fastback ahead of its reveal at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

From what we see so far the production model’s design remains relatively faithful to the

that was revealed two years back.

Not a lot is know about the Arteon at this stage, but Volkswagen has said that it’ll be positioned above the Passat and that it aims to set the page in the “premium mid-size class”.

Its design is distinct from any current VW models, thanks to a completely new front end theme in which LED headlights merge into a full-length grille with chrome-plated crossbars.

The coupé-like roofline suggests that this is ultimately a successor to the CC (badged Passat in some markets), although it will be pitched as a completely stand-alone, and decidedly more upmarket, product.

And sleek won’t necessarily mean cramped in this case as VW describes the Arteon’s cabin as “exceptionally spacious”, with “ample head and leg room at all seats”.
