Maranello - Ferrari’s ‘Tailor Made’ division has created a bespoke specification package for its 488 Pista that honours the customers who race Ferraris.

More specifically it honours said customers by ensuring that only they can buy one in this new ‘Piloti Ferrari’ specification guise.

The edition was inspired by AF Corse's #51 race car, with which Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado won last year’s World Endurance Championship.

The theme is unashamedly Italian here, with the exterior featuring a stripes package in the colours of the Italian flag, as well as a natural carbon fibre suspended rear spoiler and matte black S-Duct.

Furthermore, clients will be able to add their own race number to the car’s flanks.

Available exterior colours, all race inspired of course, include Rosso Corsa, Blu Tour De France, Nero Daytona and Argento Nürburgring.

Those Italian colours of patriotism also adorn the Alcantara seats - in a beautiful way, we must add - and the national hues can also be found on the gearshift paddles and floor mats. All the carbon-fibre trim parts inside have a matte finish.

As per the ‘stock’ 488 Pista, the Piloti gets the mighty 530kW, 770Nm version of Ferrari’s 3.9-litre turbo motor, which happens to be the most potent V8 in Prancing Horse history.

It’s also worth remembering that the 488 Pista is a considerably leaner machine than its GTB counterpart with a 90kg savings showing in its 1280kg kerb weight.

Ferrari’s latest electronic go-fast goodies are part of the deal, including the specially adapted Side-Slip Angle Control systems, limited slip differentials and adjustable magnetorheological dampers.

Fittingly the new 488 specification is being launched at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend.
