Johannesburg - Nissan SA is now offering its latest-generation Navara in 4x2 guise, which brings the base price of the range down to R457 900.

The current-generation Navara has until now been available in 4x4 guise only, with a starting price of R523 900.

The rear-driven Navara models are powered by the same twin-turbo 2.3-litre diesel engine as found in the 4x4, with outputs of 140kW and 450Nm. It can be mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox.

It also retains the class-unique coil-sprung rear suspension, and boasts a ground clearance of 229mm and braked towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes.

The 4x2 line-up largely mirrors the 4x4 range, with buyers choosing between SE and LE specification grades, although in this case the base SE is also available with the aforementioned autobox.

All models come standard with a touchscreen infotainment system with 3D navigation and reverse camera, as well as cruise control, aircon, electric windows, auto headlights, seven airbags and traction control. LE versions gain dual zone climate control, push-button start and reverse sensors among other additions. Leather seats (powered up front) can be specified for an additional R13 000.

All models are sold with a six-year/150 000km warranty and three-year/90 000km service plan.
