New Chrysler 300C gets smart suit

Although a glut of pictures and teaser shots of the all-new Chrysler 300C have been doing their rounds lately, Chrysler has now made it all official by releasing some information and a picture gallery of the large rear-wheel drive sedan.

The exterior design is clearly an evolution of the current car - there are really no big surprises here. We'd definitely call it more elegant but to achieve that it has lost some of that aggressive presence that its predecessor had.

Quite frankly we can't imagine the gangsters and rappers that bought the previous car approving of this new approach, but your father might like it.

It is a more functional design, with slimmer, swept-back A pillars that increase outward visibility by 15% and improve aerodynamics. A new dual-pane sunroof also does its bit to create an airy atmosphere.

The perceptive quality of the interior has been vastly improved, with soft touch materials, premium interior trim, available heated and ventilated Nappa leather seats, real wood appliques and sapphire blue illumination on the instrument gauges.

In true bigger-is-better American style, it even comes with the largest standard touchscreen display in the segment (8.4-inches). This interface for the Uconnect infotainment centre will not only navigate you and sort out your music collection, it'll even tell you the latest fuel prices - although it won't make you coffee.

Chrysler has not yet released information about the engine line-up, but you can practically bet on it offering the choice between Chrysler's new 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 and the proven 5.7-litre Hemi V8.

The new 300C is set to arrive in American showrooms during the first quarter of next year, so expect the local introduction to take place later in the year.
