Cernobbio, Italy - Aston Martin and Italian design studio Zagato will present this show car, the Vanquish Zagato Concept, at the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at Lake Como in Italy from 21 - 22 May 2016

It's the fifth car to come out of a collaboration that stretches back more than 50 years, from the DB4 GT Zagato of 1960 through to the V12 Vantage Zagato of 2011, and is the result of a team effort between Aston Martin design head Marek Reichman and Andrea Zagato in Milan.

The show car was developed and engineered at Aston Martin's headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire England. Its one-off body is entirely made of carbon fibre, with split lines reduced to a minimum by using large one-piece panels, and features LED lighting with the same 'bladed' technology used on the Vulcan track-only supercar.

The wing mirrors were inspired by those on the One-77, the rear end by the new DB11 - complete with retractable spoiler and rear hatch for access to the luggage compartment - but the glassed area wraps round like the visor of a racing helmet and the roof has Zagato's signature 'double-bubble' bulges.

These have been a feature of his styling since the early 1950s, when they were needed to make space for crash helmets without messing up the aerodynamic profile.

Like all Zagato show cars the Vanquish concept is a runner, its naturally aspirated V12 tweaked to deliver 441kW and its driving dynamics tightened up to match.

Inside, herringbone-weave carbon fibre is complements by bronze anodised light-alloy trim elements and softly tanned leather, defined by a special Z quilt stitching pattern on the seat and door panels, and the Zagato 'Z' logo embossed on the head restraints and stiched into the centre console.
