Suzuki is going big on SUVs at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, with the pudgy little Ignis and the facelifted SX4 making their European debuts.

The cheeky and distinctive-looking Ignis was first revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show last year and Suzuki South Africa says it's currently under consideration for our market, and if it gets the green light you can look forward to it hitting local streets in 2017.

Though not pretending to be a new Jimny in any way, the car-based crossover does at least offer the option of all-wheel drive, though lower models will be front-wheel driven. Engine choices reportedly include a normally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol and Suzuki’s new 1-litre turbopetrol.

Turbo punch for SX-4 too

Suzuki has also pulled the covers off its facelifted SX4 and in addition to a more macho-looking face, it also gets a fresh engine line-up in Europe, with 1-litre and 1.4-litre direct injection turbopetrol motors replacing the previous normally aspirated 1.6.

Suzuki SA can't yet confirm timing for the new SX4's local introduction.
