World championship leader and Honda rider Marc Marquez crashed heavily in Saturday morning's practice at the Austrian MotoGP, dislocating his left shoulder.

The Spaniard crashed at the third turn on the Red Bull Ring circuit whilst trying to avoid his teammate Dani Pedrosa.

Marquez was quickly flown to hospital in a helicopter where he was given the all clear to continue after several checks.

The four-time world champion later tweeted: "It has only been the fright! All is OK."

Marquez, who leads the riders' standings by 48 points after nine races, also tweeted that he was "eager to ride the bike".

He is still a doubt to participate in Sunday's race but said he was determined to feature.

The best time of the third practice was set by Ducati rider Andrea Iannone in one minute and 23.327 seconds, ahead of teammate Andrea Dovizioso and Suzuki's Maverick Vinales.
