Harare - The daughter of Zimbabwean Vice-President Joyce Mujuru is reported to have married a Spanish businessman in a lavish ceremony at tourism hotspot Victoria Falls, according to a private newspaper on Friday.

The Zimbabwe Independent claimed that up to 100 guests, including government ministers, were flown to Victoria Falls on Saturday on a specially-chartered plane for the marriage of Mujuru's daughter Nyasha and Pedro del Campo.

It was a lavish wedding, an unnamed government official told the paper.

The vice-presidents wife is reported to have footed the bill for the plane.

There has been no report in state media of the ceremony, which appears to have taken place against a background of growing national shortages and anti-white rhetoric.

Campo is an honorary tourism ambassador charged with promoting Zimbabwe's once-renowned tourist destinations - like Victoria Falls - in Spain, the report said.

We salute Campo for the work he has done for Zimbabwe. Tourist arrivals from Spain have gone up by over 100 per cent since he was appointed our ambassador, Karikoga Kaseke, the chief executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) told the Independent.

The paper claimed the vice president's daughter and del Campo were to make a home in Spain.

The European Union, Britain and the United States have imposed travel sanctions on more than 100 ruling party Zanu-PF officials. - Sapa-DPA
