Rabat - Morocco's King Mohammed VI and the visiting emir of Qatar presided on Thursday at the signing of major cooperation deals, including the creation of a tourism investment fund, an official source said
The two billion euro “Wessal Capital” fund was created with Moroccan tourism investment funds as well as Qatari, Kuwaiti and UAE investment funds, the Moroccan government source said.
The aim of the fund is to increase investment in Morocco's growing tourism sector.
Qatar's Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, arrived in Morocco earlier on Thursday and discussed bilateral relations with the Moroccan king, as well as the situation in the wider Arab world, a diplomatic source said.
The king greeted the emir at the Rabat airport before the two royals discussed the situation in the Maghreb, Libya, western Sahara and Algeria before signing the bilateral deals, officials said. - Sapa-AFP
