Abidjan - Ivory Coast's rebel movement recalled its ministers in a power-sharing government to a rebel stronghold on Tuesday, after the president announced sanctions against them.

President Laurent Gbagbo said on television he had given a list of ministers he no longer wanted in government to the prime minister and said rebel ministers who had not attended recent cabinet meetings would not be paid.

"The government of the republic must function with ministers who want to work for the country," Gbagbo said.

"For the month of May, no salary or salary-related payment will be paid to members of the government who have deliberately boycotted cabinet meetings." - Reuters
