Windhoek - Three Europeans died in Namibia when the light aircraft they were travelling in hit power cables and crashed, reports said on Monday.

German Christof Sigward, 65, and Dutch couple Johan and Helke Brouwer, aged 67 and 63, died on Saturday when their Cessna hit the electric line near a gliding centre about 200km south-east of Windhoek, The Namibian daily said.

Barend Kruger, the manager of the Bitterwasser Lodge - a renowned gliding centre - told AFP on Monday: "The Cessna 182 flew into power-line cables north of the Bitterwasser airfield.

"The three died on impact, although the plane did not explode when it crashed into the cables. We might never know what caused the accident." - Sapa-AFP
