A multimillionaire is walking the streets of the capital – but they have just six days to claim their fortune.

Gidani, the operator of the National Lottery, announced on Thursday day that the winner of a R30 million PowerBall jackpot drawn on August 17 last year has yet to claim their fortune.

If the winner fails to present their winning ticket at the Gidani head office in Midrand or one of its regional offices by 5pm next Wednesday, the winnings will be forfeited.

“We urgently call on anyone who purchased a ticket with the winning numbers 11, 17, 30, 35, 45 and PowerBall 20 on August 17, 2010, in the eastern suburbs of Pretoria to come forward,” Professor Bongani Aug Khumalo said.

The outlet and suburb where the ticket was bought were not revealed for security reasons.

This would be the first of the largest jackpot amounts to be forfeited owing to failure to claim by the due date. Players have up to 365 days from the date of the draw to claim their prizes.

Since the PowerBall game started 29 millionaires have been created. All those millionaires have claimed their winnings, except one Gauteng winner who failed to claim, thus forfeiting R3 623 437. - Pretoria News
