Cape Town – The Western Cape High Court was on Thursday expected to sentence Aljar Swartz for beheading a Ravensmead teenager in October 2013.
Last month, Judge Elize Steyn found Swartz guilty of premeditated murder as well as three counts of incitement to commit murder.
Earlier this year, Swartz admitted to strangling Ravensmead teen, 15-year-old Lee Adams, on October 17, 2013.
He then stabbed him numerous times, and finally decapitated him.
A security guard found the body at an abandoned school, while the head was later found in a shallow grave buried in the accused’s garden.
State prosecutor Carine Teunissen told the court during final arguments that the victim was lured to the abandoned school, Florida Primary, under the pretext that they would smoke dagga (marijuana) there together.
It is alleged that Swartz planned to sell the head of his victim to a sangoma for R5 000.
