Cape Town - Police have arrested a second suspect after two bodies were found buried in a Delft backyard last year.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man who they believe may have been behind the murders of Virna Jacobs, 47, and her 25-year-old daughter Rowena Jacobs.

Virna and Rowena mysteriously vanished four months ago.

Two bodies were found buried in the backyard of their Sering Street, Delft-South, home on December 8.

This week, family members told the Daily Voice that DNA tests confirmed Rowena’s identity and that she had been raped and also murdered on a separate location.

Tests are still being done to see if the second body is Virna.

The second suspect was arrested last week, soon after Levonna Jacobs, the main suspect in the case, made an appearance at the Bellville Magistrates’ Court.

Both are expected to be back in court on March 1 for their formal bail application.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says cops will not say anything about the post mortem results off the victims, but confirmed they have another suspect in custody.

“The bodies have not been released to the family and information about the post mortems will not be released at this stage,” said Van Wyk.

“We have arrested a 33-year-old male, a second suspect who will appear at the Bellville Magistrates’ Court with the other suspect on March 1 for the bail application.”
