Cape Town - Police have found the body of a man in a white Toyota Hilux which belonged to missing Durbanville businessman Joao Rui “Roy” Figueira.

The vehicle was found near Clanwilliam, off the N7.

When asked whether the body was that of Figueira, police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said it had not yet been identified and the cause of death had not been established.

Van Wyk said police could not speculate whether the body was that of Figueira until all the facts had been investigated.

Police and relatives have been searching for the Durbanville businessman, who disappeared on Sunday, September 8.

Figueira, 48, was last seen driving his white Toyota Hilux Raider on that day at about 1.35pm, according to information supplied to the organisation Missing Children.

Figueira, believed to have been a director and shareholder of call centre company DirectFin Solutions, which was sold to Metropolitan Holdings a few years ago, was wearing blue jeans and a grey pullover when he disappeared.

He had medium-length grey hair, sharp facial features, was 1.8m tall and weighed about 80kg.

His vehicle’s registration number was CY 114 540.

His disappearance was reported to police by his brother. Very few details were available and police declined to reveal Figueira’s home address.
