Here are five stories you might have missed today:

1) President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that South Africa’s national lockdown will be extended by two weeks, beyond the initial 21 days. His announcement takes national lockdown tentatively until the end of April. Ramaphosa made his announcement from the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Thursday evening ahead of the Easter long weekend.

2) The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) announced that baby clothes, blankets, towels and other essential accessories for new-borns, infants and toddlers up to 36 months old are now considered as essential goods.

3) Is sex a fundamental human need next to food and shelter during times of crisis? The question is it safe during the time of Covid-19?

4) Homeschooling is trending at the moment as parents attempt to keep their children’s minds busy during the lockdown period due to the coronavirus outbreak.

But, not all children will get the same attention from their parents and not all parents have the necessary teacher training.

5) There is scientific proof that self-isolation has a positive impact on containing the spread of the coronavirus, however, the effects of a prolonged period has a detrimental effect on people's mental and physical well-being.
