Eastern Cape registers first infection

CAPE TOWN - The Eastern Cape province registered its first Coronavirus infection, the Department of Health announced on Saturday. This comes as infections in South Africa reached 240.

According to the Department of Health, a female who had recently travelled to Germany had tested positive for the virus - a total of 7425 tests for the virus has been conducted nationwide with 240 cases coming back positive.

The majority of infections have occurred in males so far, with the highest rate of infection in persons between the ages of 20 and 60 years old.

South Africa have reported no deaths due to the virus since the outbreak.
