Anni Dewani

Cape Town - A text message from murdered bride Anni Dewani’s phone – reportedly bragging about having sex with her husband Shrien five times in one night – could change the State’s approach to his murder trial.

Briton Shrien Dewani, 34, is facing several charges, including murder and kidnapping, for allegedly orchestrating the murder of his young wife in Gugulethu in November 2010.

Dewani appeared at the Western Cape High Court last Tuesday, after local authorities managed to secure his extradition after three years.

Dewani has always claimed that he is too ill to face a trial in SA.

The three other accused Xolile Mngeni, Zola Tongo and Mzwamadoda Qwabe are currently serving their prison sentences for their part in the crime.

The UK Mirror reported the recent development on Sunday.

The report says Anni sent a honeymoon message to her cousin, revealing that she had sex with Shrien “five times” in one night.

Police are said to have been left reeling by the text that experts have retrieved from 28-year-old’s stolen BlackBerry.

In the SMS, Anni bragged: “Last night we had it five times.”

Her cousin Sneha then responded: “I’ve never had it five times in a night.”

However reports on Monday said Anni's uncle Ashok Hindocha has rubbished the SMS claims.

According to the Daily Mail and The Sun, he said the text read: “Finally did it. Not as good as my previous boyfriends.”

It was rumoured the prosecution at the Bristol businessman’s upcoming trial were preparing to allege he had Anni murdered by a hitman because he was secretly gay and wanted out of the marriage.

Previously, the British press reported that Dewani used a gay escort for sexual services.

The escort, Leopold Leisser, claimed that he met Dewani three times before his wedding – and even received texts from him days after Anni was murdered.
