Cape Town - The body of an unidentified man, who had been stabbed to death, was found on Signal Hill Road on Tuesday.

The body was found by a freelance photographer who had been walking up the road. He alerted rangers from Table Mountain National Park who called the police.

Police spokesman Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said the body was found at about 12.45pm.

He said the man, who was is believed to be in his late 20s, had died from multiple stab wounds to his body.

Merle Collins from Table Mountain National Park said they suspected the body had been dumped on the side of the road. He did not appear to be a hiker.

Kinana said the motive for the murder was unclear and a murder case had been opened.
