Man nabbed with dagga worth over R500k at Jeppes Reef border

Johannesburg - A 35-year-old man was arrested at the Jeppes Reef Border post on Wednesday, for possession of compressed dagga with an estimated street value of almost R600,000, Limpopo police said.

Spokesperson Brigadier Leonard Hlathi said that the dagga was found stashed in a truck he was driving.

"The arrested man was coming from Swaziland transporting sawdust when he was stopped by the police for a routine search. During the search, they discovered 22 bags filled with compressed dagga with an estimated street value of almost R600,000, where after the man was nabbed on the spot," Hlathi said.

"The suspect will make his first appearance at the Boschfontein Periodical Court tomorrow, August 17, 2017, facing a charge of dealing in dagga."
