Cape Town - A mother who allegedly prostituted her pre-teen daughter appeared in court on Tuesday.

The mother appeared in the Cape Town Regional Court along with three other women who cannot be named.

All face charges including trafficking a child for sexual exploitation. They are expected to plead to the charges on Thursday.

They are accused of prostituting the girl on several occasions between 2011 and 2012 in Frankdale in Atlantis and on the N7 near Dunoon.


The sexual encounters allegedly took place when the girl was 11-12 years old. She is now 14.


The mother faces four counts of trafficking in persons for sexual purposes.

In the first instance she is accused of taking her daughter to meet an unknown man in a shebeen and receiving payment from him for having sex with her daughter.

In a separate incident, she is accused of taking her daughter to a shebeen where she received money from an unknown man who she allowed to have sex with her daughter.


In the third incident the mother is accused of taking her daughter to have sex with four men for cash.


On the fourth count, the mother’s co-accused are charged with taking the girl to the N7 where they allegedly sold her for sex.
