Tonga - An Mpumalanga community radio DJ arrested for interfering with police work had the case against her withdrawn on Monday.

Nomvula Nkosi, 25, known as DJ Miss Rain at Nkomazi FM, was arrested in KaMhlushwa near Malalane on Saturday, a Sapa correspondent reported.

The case against her was withdrawn before she appeared in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi said Nkosi was arrested on charges of interfering with a police officer on duty after a resident reported that some boys and a girl were smoking dagga in public near KaMhlushwa Primary School.

“Our police acted on that tip-off and found three men and a girl sitting near that school,” he said.

Police searched the three men and found dagga in matchboxes.

“We then arrested the men on possession of dagga charges, but they each managed to pay R300 admission of guilt fines and were released immediately,” said Nyambi.

Nkosi was arrested when she allegedly interfered as police were arresting the men.
