Johannesburg - The Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday heard testimony that the woman accused of murdering hip hop artist Nkululeko ‘ Flabba ‘ Habedi became irritated on the night of his death because he was talking to an ex girlfriend.

State Prosecutor Paul Schutter called Masego Tsele, the girlfriend of Habedi’s friend Nkululeko Chauke, who was present hours before the murder took place.

Tsele told the court that an ex girlfriend of Habedi, named only as Kea, and her current boyfriend local musician, JR, were also at The Sands night club in Sandton where Habedi and the murder accused, his lover Sindi Manqele, were the night before he died.

“The deceased, JR and Kea were standing and talking, then later Kea started dancing in front of the guys,” Tsele said.

She said that Manqele was irritated and said they should go to the bar and get more drinks.

“She had two cocktails then we had tequila shots,” Tsele said.

Tsele said she could tell that Manqele was irritated by her facial expression and the fact that she complained about Kea’s presence.

“She said she didn’t know why Kea was there and she wanted her to go away,” Tsele said.

Tsele said she and Manqele were waiting for Habedi and Chauke to return from the bathroom, when they were approached by two men.

“The deceased and Nkuli (Chauke) told the guys to leave us alone because they were with us,” Tsele said.

The two men started arguing with Habedi and Chauke, Tsele said.

“Flabba said: ‘But these are our women so leave them alone’.”

Manqele became irritated and started arguing with Habedi, Tsele said.

“She said guys can’t talk to her but ex girlfriends can come talk to him, the deceased said the two men were being disrespectful,” Tsele said.

Tsele said Habedi asked her to step aside so that he could talk to Manqele.

She added that Habedi was not drunk but that she and and Manqele were.

Court proceedings were due to resume after a tea break.
