Johannesburg - Rapper Nkululeko “Flabba” Habedi had a fight with the woman who allegedly killed him, the Johannesburg High Court sitting in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court heard on Tuesday.

“He came in and greeted us and sang to his track then told us that he had a fight with Sindi [Manqele] and needed to go sort it out,” his cousin Mpho Motsoari said during cross-examination from Norman Makhubela, for Manqele.

Motsoari recalled how Habedi came into the relaxation room and greeted him and another friend and a few minutes later Manqele went into the house.

Asked by Makhubela if he had consumed alcohol and dagga that night, Motsoari responded: “Yes, I had two beers and one joint at around 10pm then I stopped because I was tired that day.”

Makhubela continued to ask Motsoari about the size of the speakers that they were playing music from and how loud the music was.

“The music wasn’t loud because we have neighbours and I respect them,” he said.

Before, court was adjourned for tea, Makhubela questioned Motsoari about the statement that he made to the police.

Manqele, dressed in a black jacket with a black scarf covering her face, sat in the dock listening to Motsoari testify. She is accused of the March murder of Habedi at his home in Alexandra.

Earlier on Tuesday, prosecutor Paul Schutter asked Motsoari if he remembered what Manqele was wearing on the night of the murder, but he said he did not remember what she wore on the night of the murder.

“I don’t remember what she was wearing,” he said.

Schutter asked if Habedi drank alcohol on the night, and Motsoari replied: “Yes he had because he was from a party.”

On Monday, the court heard Habedi’s cousin’s version of what took place on the night when he was murdered.

Habedi, a member of hip hop group Skwatta Kamp, was stabbed to death at his home on March 9, allegedly by Manqele, thought to be his girlfriend.

At the time, police said they were called to Habedi’s Alexandra home at 4am after the 38-year-old musician was killed.
