Durban - A 25-year-old man accused of murdering Durban businessman Nhlanhla Gasa is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The man arrested in Groutville on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast on Saturday, had been expected in court on Monday.

National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson said he would only appear in court on Tuesday. He faces a charge of murder with aggravating circumstances.

Gasa's body was found floating in the Tugela River four weeks ago. Residents saw the corpse and called police.

Gasa, 63, had sustained multiple wounds. He was an associate of President Jacob Zuma and the father of South African TV personality Noni Gasa.

Police found his burnt-out Jaguar several metres from his body. When officers went to his Umhlanga home they found blood stains, but no indication that valuables had been taken.

Police said Gasa was attacked at his house and taken to the river. - Sapa
