Cape Town - Cape Town rapper Jack Parow has been arrested on charges of disturbing the peace near the Oppikoppi site in Northam, Limpopo.
Northam is the location of the popular Oppikoppi music festival that is to take place over the weekend.
Reports said Parow and some friends were staying at the Vaalkop dam, 60km from Northam.
It was reported that Parow and his friends “borrowed” a catamaran out on the dam at about 1.30am on Wednesday.
They eventually returned to the shore after repeated requests for them to return, over loudhailers.
They reportedly co-operated with police and also tried to explain that they had borrowed the boat.
The Afrikaans rapper and his friends are being detained for public disorder and disturbing the peace.
Parow, who was scheduled to perform at Oppikoppi at 1am on Friday, was unavailable for comment.
However, he tweeted: “So it’s official, I can’t play Koppi. Blerrie upset about it but what can I do? Sorry julle. Check FB, made you a story video.”
