Johannesburg - A man found in possession of two stolen cars has been arrested in Kagiso, on the West Rand, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

Police on patrol found the 24-year-old man with the cars at a house in Kagiso on Tuesday, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

“Police found an engine tag on one of the cars had been tampered with and the other vehicle had two different registrations.”

The man failed to explain this and could not produce the cars' official documents. Sibiya said one of the cars had been used to commit a house robbery in the area two weeks ago.

“The complainant was robbed of cash, two cellphones and a grey VW Golf at his home by three armed men,” he said.

The man was charged with possession of stolen cars and was expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
