Johannesburg – A 52-year-old man has been arrested in a multi-million rand drug bust in Maitland, Cape Town police said.
He was arrested on Friday after police received a tip-off about drugs being stored at a business premises, said Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana.
“After permission was granted to the police to search the premises, they soon discovered 63 bags – each containing mandrax powder, as well as 18 plastic bags containing methamphetamine (tik) and three scales,” Kinana said.
The drugs were estimated to have a street value of R9 million.
The man, believed to be the business manager of the operation, is due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Monday facing a charge of dealing in drugs. – Sapa
