Man held for stolen cars

A man was arrested in Lenasia, south of Joburg, on Wednesday in connection with cross-border trading in stolen cars, police said.

Colonel McIntosh Polela said police arrested the man after finding three stolen cars, several quad bikes and a motorcycle in three houses that were raided around 5am.

Police found false documents, a printer, border-crossing stamps, money and a firearm. The cars were destined for either Botswana, Zambia or Mozambique.

The man was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Friday on charges of theft, hijacking, possession of stolen property and an unlicensed firearm, forgery and uttering. – Sapa
