Cape Town - The man accused of butchering teenager Lekita Moore has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.

Cameron Wilson, 21, appeared in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday, where he is being simultaneously tried on 15 unrelated charges, including five other murders, three counts of rape, attempted murder and assault with the intent to do

grievous bodily harm.

Sitting in the dock, Wilson could not stop smirking and could even be seen laughing at times during proceedings.

Wilson was out on bail for the murder of 16-year-old Stacey-Lee Mohale when he allegedly abducted Lekita after they both attended a karaoke event in Valhalla Park on September 10 last year.

The teen’s naked and mutilated body was found on a field the next morning.

Her face was slashed, she had been stabbed 98 times and her nipples and part of her vagina had been cut away.

In his plea explanation, Wilson claimed that he knew Lekita because his cousin was dating her sister.

He saw Lekita at the karaoke, but claims he never spoke to her and left for his grandmother’s house on his own.

Wilson denied any involvement in all of the cases being brought against him.

The first murder charge to be heard was that of Toyher Stober, whom Wilson allegedly shot and killed in Heinz Park in October 2014.

In his plea explanation, Wilson, who also lives in Heinz Park, said he knew Stober, but denied

having any involvement in his murder.

“I was home playing computer games. I heard the shots and went to look. I deny I assisted with the shootings,” the court heard.

Stober’s wife took the stand on Tuesday, testifying that just before he was killed, Wilson and another unknown man allegedly tried to shoot her husband.

When the accused and the unknown man ran off, her

husband got into his car and

followed them.

Minutes later a neighbour brought her the horrifying news that her husband had been gunned down.

Lekita’s family was not in court on Tuesday.

Her father, Charles, indicated he would only come to court once his daughter’s case was being heard.

The trial will resume on Thursday.
