Johannesburg – While the Hawks, the police, and the Airports Company of South Africa (Acsa) were scratching their heads about the armed robbery at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday night, SA tweeps had their own views on the heist.

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said he was unable to confirm the exact amount of money stolen, reports indicate that over R24 million in US Dollars was stolen.

Mulaudzi said the “daring robbery” had taken place in the cargo section of the airport where, according to reports, a marked police car stopped the vehicle transporting the cash bound for an SAA flight travelling overseas.

Commenting on social media, some people were sure that this was an inside job while others were quite proud that the robbers appear to have gotten away with it.
