Cape Town - An ANC councillor in the Witzenberg municipality in the Western Cape allegedly made a eight-and-a-half minute phone call during office hours to a sex line which cost R900, Beeld reported on Saturday.
Deputy mayor Kariem Adams told the newspaper the council became aware of the telephone call when the municipality received a bill.
The council got a transcript of the call.
The phone call was reportedly made by African National Congress councillor Piet Waterboer in January. The council received the telephone records on Wednesday.
Waterboer is reportedly a ward councillor in Prince Alfred Hamlet near Ceres.
Adams said Waterboer had not been expelled as disciplinary procedures had to be followed.
