Membership of the African National Congress' biggest region in KwaZulu-Natal has fallen, eThekwini regional chairman Sibongiseni Dhlomo said on Monday.

Dhlomo, who is also the province's health MEC, made the revelation at a dinner in Durban commemorating the party's centenary.

He did not say how much membership had dropped and over what period, but the Witness newspaper reported on March 12 that membership for the region was almost 90 000.

Dhlomo said the party was seeking quality membership over quantity.

He urged delegates to exercise unity and discipline.

He said that while members might commit acts as individuals, if seen negatively, these would reflect on the party as a whole.

“What ever you do, you must do to glorify the ANC,” he said. - Sapa
