This is Ramaphosa's first reshuffle since he announced his Cabinet in February. The only change he has previously made was the appointment of Tito Mboweni as finance minister after the resignation of Nhlanhla Nene.

The resignation of disgraced former finance minister Malusi Gigaba earlier this month was widely welcomed.
