African National Congress MP Nomvula Hlangwana was taken to hospital after suffering from extreme back pain during the ANC's 52nd national conference in Polokwane on Monday.
After a gruelling day of party work, as the conference broke for supper, Hlangwana was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang was on hand to help her colleague, who sat in a golf cart used by the minister before the ambulance arrived.
A Limpopo paramedic identified the patient as Hlangwana, a former Mafikeng mayor and Member of Parliament. He said she suffered from backache and that it was not serious.
Tshabalala-Msimang quickly left the area once Hlangwana was safely placed in the ambulance. - Sapa
