Port Elizabeth - The portfolio committee on rural development and land reform is going to Mpumalanga to conduct oversight of a community land claim, among other issues.

Chairperson Phumzile Ngwenya-Mabila said in a statement on Thursday that the committee would spend two days on a fact-finding mission in the province to monitor and evaluate the Mhlanganisweni (Malamala) community land claim, as well as the "the functioning of the N’wandlamhlarhi Communal Property Association".

Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, and the chief land claims commissioner, Nomfundo Ntloko-Gobodo, as well as other stakeholders will brief the committee on the status of the Malamala land claim at the Protea Hotel Kruger Gate.

The portfolio committee will also meet the community at the Lilydale Soccer Field.
