The Provincial Executive Committee of the ANC in North-West has endorsed the decision to withdraw Agriculture MEC Mandlenkosi Mayisela from the provincial legislature, the SABC reported on Monday.

This follows the committee's meeting held in Rustenburg at the weekend.

The committee has resolved to leave the matter to the premier, Ednah Molewa, who is expected to appoint the new MEC this week.

Mayisela has also had his membership of the ANC suspended, the SABC reported.

Factional fighting within the party is believed to be the reason for his removal from the provincial legislature.

The beleaguered MEC is opposed to the move and has sought legal advice. - Sapa
