Mpumalanga shake-up was premier's prerogative

The Mpumalanga government announced a cabinet reshuffle on Monday which saw economic development and planning MEC Jacob Mabena become an ordinary member of the provincial legislature.

His post is now filled by William Lubisi, who used to be the health MEC.

The health MEC is now Pogisho Pasha, who was safety and security MEC Dinah Pule is now the safety and security MEC.

MEC for culture, sports and recreation is now Nomsa Mtshweni. Madala Masuku, who previously held that post, is now MEC for agriculture and land administration.

Premier Thabang Makwetla said in a statement the reshuffle was part of the government's mission to take the work of the province forward.

His spokesperson, Ntime Skhosana, said the changes were the premier's prerogative in terms of the Constitution and would not elaborate. - Sapa
