Johannesburg - The Gupta family’s New Age media company will be launching a 24-hour news channel, a report says.

According to the City Press, MultiChoice CEO Imtiaz Patel confirmed that the channel would be broadcast from August as part of the DStv premium bouquet.

The channel will reportedly be taking the place of the SABC’s planned 24-hour news channel.

The New Age has come under fire recently after it was revealed that the company receives multimillion-rand sponsorships from some of the biggest state-owned companies to host its business breakfasts. - IOL
