Johannesburg - Several clashes broke out as African National Congress members stood in defence of the party and President Jacob Zuma against a group of ANC members planning to occupy the party’s headquarters in Johannesburg’s CBD on Monday.
Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans' Association (MKMVA), the ANC Youth League, Congress of South African Students and the ANC Women's League came out in their hundreds to defend Luthuli House against members of the #OccupyLuthuliHouse movement.
ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe accepted a memorandum from the protesters and asked members of the MKMVA not to give the #OccupyLuthuliHouse group free publicity by reacting to their antagonising.
