President Jacob Zuma held a press conference on Friday night at which he reiterated that he accepted the Constitutional Court’s findings that he, as well as the ANC caucus in Parliament, flouted the Constitution with regards to the Public Protector’s findings on the Nkandla security upgrades.

The president denied that he knowing flouted the Constitution, and apologised to South Africans for the “frustration” caaused by the debacle.

Shortly afterward, ANC general secretary Gwede Mantashe told the media that the president did the right thing by apologising, and that the ruling party saw no reason to take drastic action against Zuma.

But what are ordinary South Africans saying?

Here’s some of the reactions from Twitter:

The good news after tonight's presidential & sg spin must be that the ANC just pressed the self-destruct button #Zuma #ConCourtJudgement

We are reliably told that the so called @MyANC_ officials asked Zuma to resign and he refused. Ramaphosa was the one leading the charge...
