Johannesburg - Private investigator Paul O'Sullivan was granted R20 000 bail with strict conditions by the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Monday where appeared for allegedly contravening the Immigration Act.

O'Sullivan was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Saturday, where he was scheduled to fly to England with his family. He was reportedly found in possession of three different passports.

The State alleges that O'Sullivan left the country with an Irish passport and returned using the same passport, contravening the Immigration Act because he is a South African citizen.

He faces two charges of contravening the Immigration Act. O'Sullivan was instructed to report to the Sandton police station once a day, and would not be allowed to leave the Gauteng province without permission from the police.

The case was postponed to May 6.

The private investigator has been involved in probing high profile criminal cases, including that of convicted Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir, and is credited with helping to secure the conviction of former South African national police commissioner Jackie Selebi, who died while out on medical parole last year.
