Durban -
For poor and destitute families in Durban's Savannah Park area Christmas cheer came early when they received gifts on Tuesday including R50 000 from President Jacob Zuma.
Zuma, who addressed the large crowd, lamented the fact that not enough care was being given to the elderly and young children.
He announced a R50 000 donation that he said would go towards helping orphaned children.
The event saw many entertainers, but a sign from the office of the KwaZulu-Natal premier drew the attention of media covering the event in hot humid weather.
It appeared to borrow from former US President George Bush's “No Child Left Behind” education policy, but instead read: “Living (sic) No One Behind”. - Sapa
