Johannesburg - The owner of a Soweto restaurant which was robbed at the weekend and saw the manager on duty shot and killed, expressed his condolences to the family of the victim on Monday.

 

Sakhumzi Maqubela, the owner of Sakhumzi restaurant in Vilikazi Street, said he and his staff were still shocked following the deadly robbery in the early hours of Sunday morning. 

"On Saturday night there was an attempted robbery at the restaurant. We closed at 12 pm and at about 1am, men stormed in and shot one of the managers while attempting to make off with money. He later passed on," said Maqubela.

 

"Our condolences to the friends and family of the deceased and thank you so much to the community for your support. We wish to let our customers know that their safety is our priority." 

Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele, said a case of murder and robbery had been opened. No arrests had been made and police were still investigating.
