The decomposing remains of a Modimolle businessman were found on the grounds of his lodge outside Bela Bela, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.

Superintendent Vishnu Naidoo said Giovanni Abbatemarco was reported missing in February.

Investigations led police to conclude that he was kidnapped and robbed on the night of February 27, 2009 before being bundled into his own vehicle and driven away.

Two men were arrested for his kidnapping and armed robbery.

They claimed they had left Abbatemarco alive, but at that stage he could not be found.

The arrested men, Josias Mokubedi, 35, and Lucas Machaba, 39, were charged and appeared in the Bela Bela Magistrate's Court on charges of kidnapping and armed robbery last week, Naidoo said.

Mokubedi was a former employee of Abbatemarco.

The two would appear again on Thursday.

Abbatemarco's remains were found by a team of investigators, experts and the Gauteng Dog Unit on June 25 at the Thaba Monati Game Lodge which Abbatemarco owned.

No suspect had been connected to the death of Abbatemarco.

"Experts are currently trying to determine the cause of Abbatemarco's death," Naidoo said. - Sapa
