Johannesburg - Two people were arrested on Monday for allegedly planting dagga at their home in Zizamele informal settlement near Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said.
“The wife, aged 32, and the husband, aged 37, were detained at Msobomvu police station and charged with cultivating dagga,” Captain Jackson Manatha said.
They were arrested after police discovered they had allegedly planted dagga in their garden.
“The arrest came as a result of police intelligence. Police uprooted about 200 dagga plants with a street value of R1500,” Manatha said.
They were expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of cultivating dagga.
