Graaff Reinet - Four people were killed and 10 others injured in a mini-bus accident early Saturday morning on the R61 between Cradock and Graaff Reinet in the Eastern Cape, police said.

“It appears the rear left tyre of the minibus burst and the taxi hit an embankment and overturned,” Warrant Officer Elmarie van Eck said.

“Four people died on the scene including the driver.”

Six children sustained serious injuries, while four adults had minor injuries. All the injured were taken to a hospital in Cradock for treatment.

The taxi was carrying 14 passengers.

The accident occurred around 5.45am. Police believed the taxi was going to Mthatha, having left from Cape Town. - Sapa
