Welkom - Free State police are offering a reward of R20 000 to anyone with positive information that will assist in tracing the killers of security guard Teboho Kotola in Welkom in June this year.

On June 26, at about 8.30pm, two security officers were on patrol duty at an open field in Tempest Road, Welkom, Captain Stephen Thakeng said.

The officers were approached by 10 unknown men who started firing at the officers. The officers "ran away" and after a while the one officer returned to look for his colleague.

"He saw him lying down in a pool of blood with a gunshot to his right eye and another one on the stomach. Mr Teboho Kotola, 20, unfortunately was certified dead at the scene of crime," he said.

No one had been arrested so far and police were still looking for the suspects. Police appealed to the community to help with any information about the whereabouts of the perpetrators, Thakeng said.
